What
is Binge Drinking? Binge drinking is summarized as the
consumption of five or more alcoholic drinks on at least one occasion.
Who
does it affect? Binge drinking is a problem among all age
groups, but it is especially problematic in teens and young adults. In a
national survey, one third of high school seniors reported at least one
occasion of binge drinking.
Why
is Binge Drinking so dangerous? Binge drinking can lead
to numerous consequences, including but not limited to death, pregnancy or
STDs due to unintended sexual activity, date rape or assault, alcohol
poisoning.
How
can Binge Drinking be prevented? No one under the age of
21 should drinking alcohol, do not take part in drunken activity, and if
you see a victim of binge drinking, do not leave them alone.
